Die Maintenance Member 2nd/3rd Shift
JOB SUMMARY : Uses precision hand and power tolls for the removal of metal by grinding or cutting to shape. Uses various materials such as cast iron and stainless steel. Must possess a high degree of precision skills with the ability to read blueprints, sketches and drawings. Must be able to build and repair all types and sizes of fixtures, tools and dies.
RESPONSIBILITIES: This position reads and interprets blueprints and works from verbal or written instructions. Plans the set up and operation of machine shop tools, giving consideration to types of materials, tolerances, types of cutting tools, lubricants etc. Sets up and tests dies to produce the product to specification, tracing die difficulties to their source and correcting. Assists in designing of parts and the requesting of materials needed to perform tooling task. Works with and supports departments to insure the reduction of downtime and quality problems. Performs routine maintenance and preventive maintenance on equipment and dies. Reads blueprints and uses necessary measuring devices to make or modify existing tooling. Maintains proper housekeeping and safety standards, operates all machinery and equipment in a safe manner. Actively participates in team meetings ad Kaizen activities.
Qualifications: High degree of precision and control are required, great deal of attention and care required to prevent injury in handling of dies, demonstrate ability to solve problems and work with others to improve processes, demonstrated ability to work with hands and to work in mechanically orientated situations, general knowledge of various types of equipment, working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, maintenance type work.
EDUCATION: High School diploma or GED required. Minimum of 3 years tool and die experience required. Tool and die making certification a plus.
